Some insights into the Pinstripes 😉
Hey Everyone, its been a couple weeks since my last update. I have found some time to relax after the Kickstarter campaign - a chance to catch up on some paintings and to plan for future projects. I will be sharing some of those soon!
Some of you have been asking me, where did I get the idea for Pinstripes. It's not an easy question to answer 😅 Usually, I think that my ideas must just come to me, like in a moment of enlightenment. As I started to wonder more deeply, the ideas must come from some where. I took a series of photos recently that I want to share with you.
My inspiration comes from my surroundings. I stopped, looked around, and found some similarities. Who knows which came first...I did take these photos after I already designed the cards. Maybe its the chicken or the egg. Though I gained some insight into the power of surroundings.
I have spent the last 4 years in Tallinn, Estonia. In the title photo you can see the towers of the old city walls next to the back design. In the below photo, you see the outlook over the medieval old town. Classic red-roofed houses 😊
I live in an apartment building that is red, white, and black haha! The window shows the reflection of the building next door, which is exactly the same. Ok, so I designed the cards before I moved into this apartment. But seeing it everyday really keeps the cards in my focus whether I realize it or not.
Where do you find your inspiration? Have you ever had an idea that you really wanted to create or to pursue? Where does it come from?
I believe deeply in the subconscious. When I am trying really hard to think of a new painting, or a new project to work on, or even when I need to make a decision....rarely do I come to the eureka moment. A watched pot never boils, and I will just rack my brain over and over again. I can't just become inspired in a passive way either. One should open their mind and be receptive to inspiration.
I was getting caught up in my work and art and projects. I had to stop and take a look around. To be present in the moment.
I found what inspired me, and I found new inspiration to carry forward. I hope you will do the same 😉
Until next time!
