Pinstripe Playing Cards - The Digital Proofs

Some insights into the Pinstripes 😉

Hey Everyone, checking in with another blog post! This time it is about the printing proofs I received from The United States Playing Card Company, the printing company for Pinstripe Playing Cards!

Before I jump in, I put together a checklist of the project so far. You can see the steps so far. I am hoping to create some future content about my journey, to inspire other artists and to guide them through their own creative projects.

  1. Concept Design

  2. Prototype creation

  3. Market Promotion

  4. Supplier Coordination

  5. Kickstarter Creation

  6. Campaign Success

  7. Art Submission to USPCC

  8. Approve Printing Proofs

  9. Sign Contract for Printing Production

  10. Distribution and Fulfillment

When I got to point 7, I sent my art files to the USPCC art department. Even when I thought I was ready and I learned it all, this was still an opportunity for me to learn something new. All the printing I did up until this point. Have you done any professional printing?

First thing I learned was that not all colors are the same....and not all colors can be printed. There are more colors on your TV then there are in your printer. There are different color scales: RGB color and CMYK color. The RGB used for TVs and computers has a much larger range of color than CMYK. The RGB colors will often be more vivid. I made sure to adapt Pinstripe Playing Cards to CMYK color. Maybe you have changed the Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black ink cartridges in your own printer 😊

Shout out to the team in USPCC by the way. They have been super helpful throughout the whole process. In the very beginning, months before launching the Kickstarter, I reached out to them for some information. They provided me with an information package for custom designs and some advice how to plan and what to expect. I know I had so many annoying questions, but they were right there with me to keep things moving.

I love how these proofs look with all the guidelines and color markers on them. When the real cards are printed, they won't have the card templates and dotted lines on them of course 😅

Thanks out to my dad. He got the hard copies in the mail from USPCC and put some eyes on them for me while I am in Estonia. Everything looks good and we continue with the contract and printing process. The digital proofs are here for you to check them out as well!

Thank you all for reading, and until next time!!
