Pinstripe Playing Cards - The Tuck Box

Updated: Feb 13, 2021

Some insights into the Pinstripes 😉

Hey everyone! Welcome back again to another Pinstripe blog. I will highlight the box design, as we get closer to launch. But first I want to give a huge shout-out to my buddy George who has been making these 3D card/box images for me. He has been really helping me out so far and breathing some life into my campaign!

Product packaging...this is not something I have spent a lot of time designing 😅 Then again, there have been so many new things to learn with this project, so why not continue experimenting! I have worked in enough retail shops to know a little something at least. Everything needs a nice package. Its your first glance, a way to spark your interest, to grab your attention. In many ways, product packaging is a first impression. Although we don't want to judge a book by its cover, we sure don't mind if it looks nice or unique 😉

I want the box for Pinstripe Playing Cards to be bold and minimal, just like the cards. There are many people turning heads in the playing card world with intricate boxes, embossed lettering, and gilded detailed lines. I like those boxes, but I admit I am not at the point yet where I can make them. I know that it will come with time. In the meantime, I am going with a sleek design to grab your attention and your imagination. Something to stand out on the shelf. I am really hoping to see it in future photos when collectors are showing off their display cases.

Like every design, the box starts out as a 2D template. You can see it below before it will printed, cut, folded, and glued.

What makes this tuck box unique is the wrap-around design. Based on the geometry of the box, it is possible to line up three boxes to display the front, side and back. A three dimensional representation of the design (seen below). However, due to the Pinstriped nature of this box, you can actually line up as many as you want. The stripes will continue across the spines of the boxes (as seen in the title photo).

The non-striped side simply says RSM Playing Cards. Pinstripe playing cards didn't quite fit well 😅 Although, if this project is successful then this will not be my last playing card design. I hope to design many more boxes in the future that say RSM Playing Cards on them!

Let me know what you think. Does this box grab your attention?

Until next time!

☮♥RSM
